A report on Àrreu, a village in the Catalan Pyrenees that was buried by an avalanche in 1803, killing 17 of its 88 inhabitants. The survivors, far from resigning themselves to abandoning the narrow valley, rebuilt the village in a safer ledge, at 1,250 meters of altitude. Eloi Renau lives there alone since 2020, for El País (April 2025).
